Learn about our
poverty-fighting charity
organization
It all started when…
Hogar Infantil was founded in 1963 by Nicholas Anderson, an American expat who was living in Chiapas. With just a handful of U.S. donors, Don Nich began taking in children who were living on the street. After Nich’s death in 1977, others stepped in to ensure that Hogar Infantil would survive and carry on its mission
NOT ONLY DID WE SURVIVE, BUT WE EXPANDED OUR MISSION, CHANGING FROM A BOYS-ONLY HOME TO ONE THAT PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIRLS AS WELL.
Hogar remains a grassroots organization and strong community. Many of the local leaders at Hogar today grew up at the Ranch and are now serving those who have come after them. We are proud to call ourselves family and feel an incredibly strong bond to the place, to each other and to our donors.
